30 Days of Prayer for the Harvest
Day 30 – Tuesday, February 10, 2026
Read Luke 10:1-12
Today, as we conclude our 30 days of prayer, I want us to return where we started. Our theme verse for this thirty days is Luke 10:2 where Jesus says,
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
In Luke 10, as Jesus prepares seventy-two disciples to heal and preach that the kingdom of God has come, He tells them to pray for even more messengers. Jesus is not just looking for crowds; He wants emissaries who will invite others into a relationship with Him. Despite having gone from one—Jesus—to twelve, to more than seventy, the kingdom message needs even more heralds. Like their food, shelter, and clothing, only God can provide partners for the mission (Luke 10:4–7). Some will reject their message, but the message needs to get out to those who will hear and understand (Luke 10:13–15; Romans 10:14).
Jesus often used agricultural parables. The most well-known is probably the parable of the sower, where Jesus compared the gospel to seed and the hearts of the hearers to different soils (Luke 8:4–8). The harvest language here is language that we see all throughout scripture, and particularly in Jesus’ teachings as relating to judgment and salvation. It emphasizes the reality that one day, every single person in the world will either experience the final judgment of God, eternity in unquenchable fire, or the final ultimate salvation of God, everlasting joy in the presence of God.
Crops are ready for harvest at specific times. At harvest time, extra workers are needed. Jesus’ short earthly ministry was nearing its end, and messengers were needed to encourage people to respond.
We also experience this today. The time is still short and the task is still urgent. Believers need to be ready to give hope when people are ready to receive it.
Hark, the voice of Jesus calling,
“Who will go and work today?
Fields are white, and harvests waiting,
Who will bear the sheaves away?”
Loud and long the Master calls us,
Rich reward He offers free;
Who will answer, gladly saying,
“Here am I, send me, send me”?[i]
Today’s Prayer
(This prayer is just a model for you to pray, make the prayer your own from your heart as the Lord helps you to pray).
Father, we pray to You, the Lord of the harvest, for the sending out of more laborers into the harvest field, Lord, send more people, where we live, more people who are going out in the power of Your Spirit, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, Your judgment, and Your salvation.
Lord, make each of us, we pray, willing and obedient before You to go wherever You lead today. Make us faithful to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom as laborers in the harvest field. Help us to labor in the harvest field today, right where You have put us, and then wherever you lead us.
God, raise up other Christians who have a relationship with my lost family members, friends, and neighbors. Give me those who can partner with me in sharing the gospel with them. In particular, cause their believing friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors to take every opportunity to speak the gospel into their lives. Allow the words we all share to reinforce the truth of the gospel to them and prompt them to consider the claims of Jesus Christ. Save them and turn them into fellow laborers who will share the gospel as well.
Father, I make my life available to You in a fresh way today. I offer my body as a living sacrifice. Here am I, Lord, send me in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
